CREATING A PEOPLE FIRST WORK CULTURE AND TETRAD IT’S ANNUAL POTJIE COMPETITION
At Tetrad IT, we believe in putting people first. Companies worldwide are realizing that the happiness of their employees is as important as the bottom line.

At Tetrad IT, a highlight of the year is definitely our annual potjie competition. The SaaS game is challenging and we all work hard to make incredible projects and implementations happen, so let’s make time for fun in-between, support each other, learn and grow, and build a family culture.
Company events are great for uplifting the morale of employees and getting to know each other on a more personal level. It can also help boost the confidence of the individuals in attendance.

Winner, winner, potjie for dinner!
The concept is simple, divide the company into groups selected at random, each team strategizes and plans their potjie with a recipe of their choice, provide all the ingredients, and then let the potjie cook-off and fun begin.
Our 2021 potjie competition had it all. Lamb, beef, oxtail, chicken, and even a seafood potjie! Fun and laughter flowed, fires roared, potjies slowly cooked, the competition was fierce.
We held the event at Africlassic River Lodge Rivonia. Marco Moreira, who is Tetrad IT’s Head of Sage, is a co-owner of this beautiful venue.

‘We started in 2006 with 1 property and 7 rooms. Thanks to a German radio & TV company, who needed 30 rooms for their visit to South Africa in 2010 for the FIFA World Cup, we were fortunate enough to experience growth and the subsequent boost into our existing infrastructure.
The properties range from budget rooms, long term stay rooms and luxury apartments. We made tribute to Africa as each of our rooms is named after an African country on the continent, with some bespoke items in each room collected by Jan and I whilst travelling across Africa on business for many years together.
The property looks over on a river, Braamfontein Spruit, which offers the most tranquil of surroundings. This feeds into the Jukskei river and eventually into the Hartebeespoort dam.
We are extremely excited to always host Tetrad IT with their annual Potjie Competition, which is always an exciting event, which I know the Africlassic team really enjoy! Somehow Vusi always seems to win this competition.’

Judging the winning potjie.
The managers and talented chefs from Africlassic River Lodge Rivonia judged each potjie diligently, taking private notes as they went along, grading each potjie. It was a serious matter!
You may think we only do SaaS, but our Tetrad IT team could easily moonlight as chefs. Every potjie hit the mark and our judges had a tasty challenge ahead of them with the goal of ultimately choosing a winner.
So who won?
FURIOUS 5 with their oxtail potjie. Congratulations Buhle, Emandleni, Rendani, Vusi and Nolo.
The judges remarked that the flavours and taste made the winning potjie stand out and it was a clear crowd pleaser.
In team spirit, and a love for potjies, we placed all the potjies together along with sides and salads so that everyone could dish up to taste each team’s potjie.
Feeding the team was a team effort.
What is next for the Tetrad IT Dream Team?
We will be kicking off 2022 in brand new offices designed with our people in mind. We will have private boardrooms, cosy meetings room, open café style workspaces, quiet spots, and also an exciting games room.
And of course, a dedicated braai area for Friday afternoon team braais.
